Consumers Digest Awards Amarr for Classica Collection

Consumers Digest, a nonprofit product review and recommendation service, awarded Consumers Digest Best Buys ratings to three models in Amarr’s Classica Collection® of garage doors in the magazine’s August issue.  The magazine awards the coveted Best Buy seal to products its independent staff judge to be of the best quality and offered at the most reasonable price.

The Best Buy rating highlighted Amarr’s Classica 3000 door.  The Classica 3000 is part of Amarr’s highly popular carriage house collection – garage doors that replicate the look and style of turn-of-the-century carriage house doors but operate like a modern sectional door.  Amarr’s Classica 1000 and Classica 2000 models also received Best Buys ratings.

“The Classica 3000 has the most panel options among three-layer carriage-house-style doors,” Consumers Digest writer Michael Chotiner said in his garage door review entitled “Grand Openings.”  “No other insulated carriage-house-style door in this price range offers a better combination of rigidity, dent-resistance and energy performance.”

“Carriage-house style door designs can give your garage curb appeal without breaking the bank,” Chotiner said.  “But for some, a simple, stamped (and less expensive) steel door is all that is needed.”

“The garage door industry points to a National Association of Home Builders study that indicates replacing a garage door before listing a home can raise its sale price from one percent to four percent,” he added.  “After all, an attached garage can account for up to 40 percent of the area of the front of your house.”

Author Michael Chotiner has written extensively for Consumers Digest.  He is a former editor for numerous building and home improvement publications, including Bob Vila’s American Home and Home Mechanix.
